HELP! I'm Shamelessly Exploiting YOU!

So I need to know: If you could have written a letter to an advice column in High School* what kinds of things would you have asked about? (My concerns may not have been entirely, um, of general interest.)

*Bonus points if you're actually IN HIGH SCHOOL. Use LOTS of CAPS in your COMMENT, and then I'll KNOW.)

  1. I'd write about boys... if I was in High School. Boys and their crazy hair. Okay, maybe not. How about relationships with parents or how to date. I think we all needed that in high school. =)

  2. I exploit too, whenever I can get away with it. I take it you're writing a column then. Don't you have a fourteen year old daughter?

I'm definitely not in high school, but I remember those days very well. Here's what I would have asked if we'd had a paper at my school--Why do boys always pick the trashy girls and how can I be liked and still keep my standards? But that's just me.

  3. Dear Becca,

My world has ended. The guy I liked showed up to the dance with a new girl. What can I do to get him to notice me?

    Thanks,

    Dear Becca,

I recently moved into a new high school. Over the summer I made friends who share a common interest. But now that school has started I feel stuck. I feel stuck and defined by my friends. I NEED NEW FRIENDS if I'm ever going to be popular. How can I nicely ditch my old friend for better ones?

    Help,
Wanting to be in the IN crowd

    Dear Becca,

I have decided that I want to go to art school. It is the only thing that makes me happy. But my parents told me they will not support my decision. I have thought a lot about this choice and I know it is the right thing for me to do. How can I convince my parents that I am not a little kid anymore?

    Thanks for you help.

  4. Wow, Amber did a fabulous job answering your plea for help!

I would've asked for advice on how to survive a math class whose teacher had a Vietnamese accent thicker than a plank. Where to find cheap but fashionable clothes. How to clear up acne. Etc...

  5. I'm not in high school but at the time, what I would have written about would have been my friends. I would have asked advice about those relationships and when do you stop being friends with a person.

  6. I would have been dying to know if a boy would ever notice me. Ever!

  7. Dear Becca,

Why is it that only the nerdiest of nerds are interested in me?

    Help!

  8. Dear Becca,

How come everyone else gets to go to Hawaii and I have to stay here in the freezing snow?

    Sincerely,

If you want to say it, I want to hear it. Bring it on.
